Joining our talent pool
If you have reviewed your career options recently you may have already decided that interim management could be for you. Or you could be working in the industry already. The first step is to send your details to us. We will acknowledge receipt, review what you have told us and ask you for your CV. We then actively review your details rather than storing them on a database. Suitable candidates are invited for an interview to discuss current opportunities.
If you haven't worked as an interim manager before then some important pointers are listed below.
Setting up a Limited Company
Jefferson Salt Interim Management recommends that you set up your own limited company. When working with us on assignments, we arrange a direct contract between your company and the client. Creating a limited company is straightforward if you go to www.companieshouse.gov.uk, or you can buy one off the shelf. A good accountant is desirable to help with company setup and administration as well as tax, NI and VAT.
Regulations and opting out
The interim management industry is regulated under "The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003". This legislation allows limited company contractors to opt out. We'll need a copy of your identification and a letter from your limited company, and from you, confirming that you are happy to opt out.
Payment
You will be paid every day that you work. At the end of each month you'll typically invoice your client for days worked and expenses - all copied to Jefferson Salt Interim Management. The client company pays you direct and then pays Jefferson Salt Interim Management its margin.
Professional Indemnity Insurance
Professional indemnity insurance is a prerequisite for all interim managers.
Tax/IR35
The tax rules governing interim managers operating through limited companies are commonly referred to as IR35. Jefferson Salt Interim Management is not able to offer tax advice - we do recommend that you take professional advice on this important issue.
